Why advice isn’t as good as it used to be
It seems that we are in an era when advice is everywhere! There is always something or someone popping up to deliver the latest advice or more specific business advice.
- Earn 6 figures working in Bali for 4 hours per day!
- How I made my millions and how you can too!
- Have the lifestyle you want and only work 2 hours each day!
- How I travel the world and earn money while I sleep!
- Come to this conference of entrepreneurs and be a success
- Join my webinar and make your next million
Blah Blah Blah Blah – there are so many it is scary. Suddenly you are thinking that everyone is a success except for you. Remember people only ever show you their best version so you may be comparing yourself to something that doesn’t actually exist!
Personally, I am sick of it all – People are trying to get rich by telling people how to get rich!
It doesn’t even make any sense!
Just because something is said with authority doesn’t mean they are correct. Or just because your friend or family member (also in business) tells you something, doesn’t make it right. We exist in a place where you can get free advice, paid advice, subscribed advice, social advice and so much more.
So if we agree that not all advice is good advice – How do you navigate advice
The only person who can decide how to live, work and feel better is you!
Being in a business means you should be on a road on constant learning and educating yourself and gaining business advice is just one of the ways you can do that.
Know your questions
- What are you seeking to learn from this business advice?
- There is no one size fits all approach, do their answers make sense to you
- Does the person giving business advice have relatable experience
- Will the business advice match your needs
Don’t get caught by the bright lights
- A flashy presentation doesn’t mean everything
- An advertisement may not be backed up when you actually get in touch
- Are they just getting paid for teaching you how to do the same thing that they do
- Take time to think about the information you have been given, does it make sense for your business
- If all else fails, listen to your gut reaction or immediate reaction – 9/10 times this will be the right one
Don’t speak to everyone
- Only speak to a select few that resonate with your sense of self and business then choose
- Don’t respond to unsolicited emails promising the world
- Too many opinions can drive you crazy, no matter how well-meaning they seem
- Be caution to accept advice from friends and family, they are not always going to be impartial with their answers as they care about you. Or they may be jealous because they can’t do what they want to do.
Conclusion
As someone who sells advice, I understand the irony in this post but it is important to realise that we are all different.
Not everyone is suited to working with me and I am not suited to working with everyone. This is the main reason I offer the obligation free chat to get started. This free chat isn’t a time to get free advice and to move on to the next person offering a free chat. It is the time to see if what I have to say resonates with what you are looking for.
If you want to get an idea of what I offer – subscribe to this blog and sign up for a free chat.
