Have you been wondering what you should be doing with your social media during COVID-19?

I get it – you feel odd to be marketing your business while the world is experiencing a crisis.

Do you have a business that has been forced to close? Now is not the time for a holiday, it is the time to pivot your business and continue to be visible to both your existing and potential clients.

Now, more than ever people are looking to social media for some relief during this worldwide crisis. Your business doesn’t need to provide virus updates but it can provide content while being sympathetic to the situation.

You may even find that your engagement is up at the moment as people have more time to be on Social Media. Social Media is the perfect tool when we are all social distancing.

Pivoting your marketing

If your business is quiet or closed now is the time to pivot your marketing. Now is the perfect time to share your personality and light humour. You may find that social media during COVID-19 is the perfect place to be for your business.

Hairdressers – During normal business you may not provide tutorials or video chats, now is the time. Add an eCommerce shop so you can still sell products.

Tattoo Artists – During normal business you may not show your drawings or timelapse of your art, now is the time. Why not sell your art or merchandise.

Retail – Special offers will keep your business flowing. Remind people that you are still delivering. Video tutorials on how to use/wear what you sell.

Chiropractors – Webinars or live stretch classes for the clients that cannot or will not come in.

Restaurants/Cafes – Be inspired by others who have pivoted their entire business to keep their staff employed.

Business as usual

For some business owners, it is business as usual or perhaps it is even busier than normal. Continue to market your business during this time even if you are busy, don’t stop marketing.

Share positive photos, stories and videos to communicate with your followers.

Show how you are working differently during this time and show an interesting side to your business that you perhaps have not shared before.

Outsourcing

It may be the perfect time to outsource your social media. If you are struggling to know what to post a professional can help you as they look at your business from a different perspective.

Now is the time to support small business where you can – shop local and shop small.

Jump on social media or Google and leave positive reviews for a business/s that you regularly use. This is helpful to them and doesn’t cost any money at all.
