Gain Maximum Exposure for your Small Business

One of the most common complaints from small business owners is that they struggle to gain enough exposure. So how do you gain maximum exposure for your small business?

Naturally, every small business is different and there can be no one size fits all approach. There will be other tasks that I haven’t covered like setting up in local or creative markets, pop up shops and more, share in comments the other things you do.

Read this blog and do the tasks that resonate with your business and you will notice the difference. If you are unsure about what to do in any of these areas and would like to develop a strategy for your business please contact Kelly @ My Sassy Business.

First and foremost, ensure that you can identify your ideal clients clearly as this will help to ensure that your efforts reach the right people.

Website

  • It should go without saying that you need a professional website that is also mobile responsive.
  • A website should be refreshed every 2 to 3 years to ensure that its look, feel and usability is strong.
  • Your website must allow people to contact you easily and show all available methods of contact in the usual places.
  • Reviewing and updating your website’s information should be a regular practice.

SEO

  • Optimising your website so that search engines can find you is essential
  • While there is a lot you can do yourself, outsourcing it will make a difference to your outcomes.
  • It is a long-term practice for exposure, don’t expect short-term results as there are no shortcuts to success.
  • By having a strategy of SEO longterm you can avoid spending money in other areas just to gain exposure.
  • Outsourcing is the best way to look after your SEO

Content

  • Create a strategy of what and where – what you will create and where you are going to share it.
  • Produce new content that can be easily shared with existing and new followers.
  • As part of your strategy make sure your content production is consistent
  • Guest blogging look at both giving and receiving guest blogs
  • Email marketing is alive and well, create consistent and relevant campaigns for your subscribers

Social Media

  • Ensure that you have an optimised Facebook page that you are regularly posting to.
  • Regularly posting means at least 5 times each week, daily is better and depending on the platform, multiple times each day is preferred.
  • Participate in Facebook Groups that are relevant to your business and likely to contain people who will use your business.
  • Choose other social media accounts like, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn or whichever ones are relevant to your ideal clients.
  • Make sure your social media descriptions are kept up to date and optimised.
  • Don’t forget sites like Houzz and Home Improvement pages which are very popular for homeowners.

Influencers

  • If you are going to use social media influencers, make sure that you have a strategy and a contract of expectation.
  • Giving your products to influencers without expectation is not a strategy, you need to ensure that they will share it with their followers.
  • Ensure that them sharing it will benefit your sales or at least drive traffic to your website.
  • Influencers can be very beneficial to your business when you choose wisely.
  • Ensure that their audience of followers matches your ideal clients by asking for their follower statistics.

Paid Advertising

  • Social Media – Local, national or international campaigns. Very affordable.
  • Google Adwords – Can be very expensive and not always easy to get results.
  • Sponsored Blogs – Like influencer marketing, you can expose your brand to a wider audience.
  • Sponsored Ads – Advertising on a website whose traffic is your ideal clients can drive those people to your business.

Online Directories

  • Google My Business – Essential for all businesses to have
  • True Local – Can help you appear in the Google search results
  • Industry Directories – People looking for your type of business may search via an industry directory like HI Pages.
  • Free Online Directories – There are a lot to choose from and again this can help with your online exposure and results.
  • Local Directories Online – If you have a business deviant on local trade, this is a great way to gain local exposure.
  • Forums – Forums, like Facebook groups, are a great way to expose your business online to relevant people.

Signage

  • Shopfront Signage – This should be obvious, but professional signage makes a big difference to people finding your business.
  • Vehicle Signage – It is amazing how much business you can gain just by having a professional sign attached.
  • A-Frame – If you are working and able to have an A-Frame sign nearby, this is a great way of further exposing your business. It helps to direct people to where you are or you can have business cards attached for people to take.

Networking

  • Attending local networking events is a great way to expose your business locally
  • It takes time to find the ones that suit your business and your personality
  • Don’t give up, networking is about building relationships
  • A circle of around 12 people can provide you with a lot of referrals to grow your business

Conclusion

Small Business is hard work and gaining maximum expose is part of that hard work. And this is all before you try and actually sell something or make something.
